Since early 2016 the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe have been involved in what is now known as the "Dakotah Access Pipeline Protest"; a movement to stop construction on an oil pipeline that would pass underneath the "Missiouri, and Missisippi rivers, as well as underneath Lake Oahe, near Standing Rock Reservation.
Since protest began, several incidents have gained attention world wide.
On January 24, 2017, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to advance the construction of the pipeline under 'terms and conditions to be negotiated'".contributors, Wikipedia. The pipeline crossing under major bodies of water raises great enviromental concern, however; with awareness and support, construction can be stopped. Due to this, The Koasek Abenaki of Koas Tribe recently attended a rally in support of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and their efforts.
